Arina Tanemura is an award-winning Japanese mangaka, known for her work on the manga series Fushigi Yûgi. She was nominated for the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize in 2001, and was awarded the Kodansha Manga Award for Best Shōjo Manga in 2004. She won the Shogakukan Manga Award for Best Shojo Manga in 2008. Tanemura's first major work was published in 1996, when she began serializing Fushigi Yûgi in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine (now Kodansha's Nakayoshi)
The series has been collected into 22 volumes as of 2014. In 2008, Del Rey Manga began publishing a monthly American edition of the manga, which it continues to do as of 2014. Tanemura has contributed illustrations to other manga magazines, including Nakayoshi and Kiss.
Her illustrations have been licensed for use on a variety of products, including clothing and toys. She is particularly noted for her artwork depicting a number of characters bearing a resemblance to her younger self.
